From a Market to A Food Blog

Hello everyone! Since our physical store is officially close, we are converting our store blog into a Food/Asian Travel Blog. This way, our readers will continue to have access to our recipes. We will also be mentioning drool-worthy restaurants that we come across our travels whether it's local or international.  Be on the look out for new posts on more recipes, ingredients, and restaurant reviews! In the meantime, feast your eyes on this! 

Mama Nida's Asian Market awarded Diversity Award

It's one thing to receive recognition for volunteering for an organization. It's another to be recognized by the local business community as someone who is worthy of an award for creating diversity in the community. For that I am greatly humbled. I started off with Computer Science but quickly realize that it wasn't for me. I chose Angelo State University to be able to stay close with family and I like the small town feel of San Angelo. My mother bought "Asian Food Mart" my sophomore year an I spent my free time working for her. From there, I changed my major to Business management and got my bachelor's degree in 2006. New Design: Done!

For our frequent visitors, you may have noticed a bit of a change in the appearance of the blog. Thankfully casualties were few, and I needed a new keyboard anyways. We hope this change is a bit more user friendly. Your favorite posts are still here, including all of the recipes. Tell us what you think of the new look and if there is anything you'd like to see. On the storefront, our new sign should be going up soon. Permits are in hand and we just await the installers. As soon as it is in place we'll be showing it off. So here's the scoop!! May 18th 2012, Friday starting at 6PM , we will be learning how to prepare, cook, and EAT authentic Thai Cuisine. Mickie Carriker and her family has graciously offered their kitchen and home for this cooking class. Happy Thanksgiving

From all of us here at Mama Nida's Asian Market We wish you all  a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving Three Simple tips to help you through this holiday: 1. Drink your favorite tea during your feasting break, it will aid digestion. Camomile Tea or Mint Tea will aid with indigestion and upset stomach. 2. If you plan on consuming a lot of spicy food or alcoholic products, drink Aloe Vera drink afterwards. You're stomach will thank you later. 3. If you think you're starting to feel sick, go overload on Vitamin C and  give a super boost to your immune system. With that said, take you're time with all the good food, remember, you will be eating all day and eating any leftovers tomorrow. Grazing will allow you to enjoy all the good eats.  Mangan Tayon! Annual Asian-American Cultural Festival  "Taste of Asia"  NOVEMBER 13, 2011, SUNDAY. The Event will take place 5pm-8pm at the McNease Convention Center on Rio Concho. There will be food, dance demonstrations of different Asian cultures, and plenty of activities for everyone. " This event will kick off the Association of Asian-American Women's fundraising toward our goal of building the Asian Cultural Center in downtown area of San Angelo. We are still here! Last weeks winds wrecked havoc upon our sign. We are working on replacing it now. Until then, know we are still here and open for business.
