MAY : Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM)... What is it about? Its the official month celebration of the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. In 1990, a bill passed by Congress was signed by George H.W. Bush to extend Asian-American Heritage Week to a Month. May was officially designated as Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month in 1992. San Angelo AAAW has graciously put out a collection of Cultural Display at the Stephens Central Library (Tom Green County Library) downtown San Angelo. To commemorate APAHM in San Angelo, The Association of Asian-American Women has put together an array of cultural display at the Stephens Central Library downtown for the whole community to see.
